The Pura Vida
Written By Taran Nadler
Huey and I spent three weeks in Costa Rica over the holidays. It was sublime in basically every way a trip could be. Relaxing, stunning, and cup filling.
The marriage of birds and photography is a case of like with like. Both are similarly nurturing by tricking me into slowing down. Never have I done so little for so long, so happily. Birding is just on the cusp of meditation. I’m doing, but barely. It’s basically a trick where I can relax and “be” but it’s active enough that I’m content (whereas whenever I meditate my brain immediately thinks as hard and as furiously as it can).
Anyways, long story short, I’m a fully lost bird nerd. So these are my faves (with some other spectacular CR animals mixed in) from our trip.
